How We Appraise Estate Jewelry

While GLGC has been in the business of buying and selling estate jewelry since 1978, just a few years ago we bought a large amount of gems directly from individuals or from individuals referred to us by other jewelers. The need for reliable, trustworthy estate gem services became clear to us. That is when we came up with the idea of making as many people as possible aware that we do this. Part of that service is offering free appraisals by our independent appraiser, Pam Chester. Pam, a Graduate Gemologist and member of North American Jewelry Appraisers(NAJA), is here by appointment on Thursdays to do appraisals.
Even if you aren’t planning on selling the jewelry or gemstones at the moment, we will appraise your inherited items, and if they have value, we inform you that when the time comes when you want to sell the items, we can help.

Pamela Chester, GIA Certified Appraiser

We are extremely blessed to have Pamela Chester work for us as our gem and jewelry appraiser. She is an independent jewelry appraiser with forty years of experience in the jewelry industry. She specializes in the appraisal of diamonds, gemstones, and both modern and antique fine jewelry and watches. Pam earned her Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) title from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The experience she gained working for an independent jeweler in New York and then Cowell & Hubbard in Ohio rounded out her knowledge of the jewelry industry. In 1989 Pam opened Gem Graders, an independent jewelry practice. Her customers include private clients, jewelry stores, insurance agents, IRS, auction houses, attorneys, and pawnbrokers. Pam is a Senior Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA), which consists of appraisers who are educated and specialized in the field of gem and jewelry appraising. She has done estate appraising for the municipal courts in most counties in Northeast Ohio.
